This is a one year old Gold Champagne Quarter Horse. He is a half brother to the gold champagne palomino Goober who is pictured elsewhere in this category. Sampson, a classic champagne, who is also pictured elsewhere in this category is their sire. His dam was a palomino. You can see the distinctive amber colored eyes and the freckles on his muzzle. His coloring is being affected by the redness of a setting sun. His normal color is what I would call copper.

A week ago the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were swarming around my feeders. A few days later there were only a few that showed up. Today I haven’t seen any. I’m assuming the southward migration is pretty much done in our area. The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds will return here in mid March.
